Who Are We? Chiva Fighters

Why, hello there! Here at ChivasMeansGoats, we believe that Club Deportivo Chivas USA is the most superior of all MLS teams. We also believe that Sacha Kljestan, Jonathan (Jonny) Bornstein, Paulo Nagamura, Ante Razov, Justin Braun, Jorge Flores and all the Chivas dudes are AWESOME. be warned: this blog is written by 4 total teenage soccer stalkers. We're going to dish all the information possible about Chivas USA. And again, since this blog is typed by INSANE GIRLS, please don't expect to read much of anything substantial or newsworthy. Mostly it's about the players. We'll be aiming to start regular blogging soon; once we get all our affairs in order, we hope that we will write entries almost every day, as we find things exciting to post. Thanks for visiting the Sisterhood of the Traveling Sacha Kljestan Cleats! Drop by again soon!

BTW: We have recently acquired a pair of authentic cleats (adiPURE, size 11) worn by Sacha Kljestan, hence the name of the blog. Click on the picture below to see a larger and wider view of our snapshot of him running toward us to give us the cleats. Enjoy!

There are 4 of us actually. Ariel is a great artist and is a rabid Chivas fan. She also likes photography and music. Then there's Jazel and Janessa. They are amazing ballet dancers and aspiring fashion designers. Jay and Jan haven't been Chivas fans for long, but they already cheer louder than us at the matches. I'm Hannah, and I play soccer. I've been a Chivas fan for a few years, and I was the one to introduce soccer to the other three. I love music and Sacha Kljestan. It's a joy to watch Sacha play; he's so creative. Anyways, that's a little about us!

Most Boring MLS Cup Ever... for a Chivas fan that is.

I mean seriously dudes. Crew and the Red Bulls??? Good gosh.

The actual game was craaaazy boring. Ariel and I were probably in our seats for a grand total of 20 minutes at the MOST. I've already forgot who scored the first Crew goal... and also who netted the lone NY goal. But Frankie Hejduk scored the second for the Columbus. We weren't in our seats for the last goal of the game so sorry. Can't tell you who scored that! Overall, it was a snoozer of a match for us Chivas fans.

There were several MLS players in attendance. They hung out in suites 108 and 103, if i recall correctly. Matt Reis came all the way from New England to check out the scene. Nick Rimando, Nick Garcia, Ben Olsen, Eddie Pope, Chris Klein, Jimmy Conrad, John Conway, Sean Franklin, Zach Wells, John Busch, Kevin Hartman and Alan Gordon also showed up. Special mentions include Logan Pause and John Thorington of Chicago Fire. Dudes are seriously HOTT. For our fashion section we must note that Logan Pause wore a STUNNING leather jacket ;)

Some of our Chivas boys also made an appearance. Alex Zotinca, Jim Curtin, Dan Kennedy, Sacha Kljestan, and Jonny Bornstein were all the ones that we spotted. Unfortunately, Sach was being a little wankster again and was all, "I'm too cool for you". Jonny on the other hand was crazy nice. Here's Dan Kennedy chillen at the MLS Cup. He was so sweet...
K, well, I'm tired. See ya'lls later.

MLS CUP 2008

It's me, Ariel.

Today, my siblings, my aunt, Hannah, and myself attended the MLS Cup on Nov. 23. We wanted to get there two hours earlier, but as fate would have it, we didn't. Ah, well, it didn't really matter, I think. The crowd was so sparse in the stadium that it didn't really matter how early we didn't think we were. Of course, by the time pre-game had begun and things began pumping up, the seats were jam-packed with dedicated followers.
I said before in my last write-up that it would be Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls to compete for the championship. I just wanna say, that, yes, I did wear my Chivas USA jersey. Of course I did. Even if I did have doubts. The rest of my group were ecstatic about showing off their passion. My younger sister even donned a homemade Chivas USA jersey made especially be moi. Well, everyone loved it. Even Jonny Bornstein, who's name graced her backside.
It's kind of funny. All these native Columbus and NY fans had to travel all the way over here. I bet it was hosted here for the sole reason that Chivas would defeat.
But that's just that. Hannah will go further into detail what happened at the game, even though...well, we weren't really paying attention.

Peace,
Ariel

MLS Cup, November 23

Hi, all.

As you can see from the title, the famous, amazing MLS Cup is at our bedroom, the Home Depot Center. It would have been more amazing if Chivas USA had beaten Real Salt Lake (They lost 0 - 1). Of all the times, the Cup is being hosted at HDC. Chivas had certainly put in a lot of effort, but there were so many they could have scored.
Even, though, we will continue to support them, and we wait eagerly for the beginning of the 2009 season. They have so much time to practice for the next Cup.
In the end, Columbus Crew won for the eastern conference and New York Red Bulls qualified for the western conference. They will play each other at the finals.

Peace,
Ariel

Chivas USA vs. Houstan Dynamo, October 25

Hola, everyone! It's meh, Ariel. As you can see, Hannah has already written most of the bulk here. I don't know futbol as much as she but I did go to the game vs. Houstan Dynamo on October 25th. I was fortunate to be able to sit with the craziest bunch of people in the stadium, the Union Ultras, in Section 101. While there, I made friends with a little boy named Carlos, son of some Ultras leader guy. He offered to give me his sweatshirt, labeled with the official Union Ultras logo! Unfortunately, he said his dad would get mad at him, so I am at home Ultra-less. :(
On the up side, there was singing and dancing all day. Plus, I got to heave up the humongous vinyl poster sign that had the Ultras logo on it. It was freaking asombrarrrrr!!! Three Chiva's even took their jerseys off after the game and threw it to us! I didn't catch one though. :( But it's all good. At least I got two free Chivas footballs and caps.
So, anyway I'm pretty sure I got a good spot on TELEVISHUN.
On the down side, the crazy ref sent off Dan Kennedy, goalkeeper, and gave him a red card because he SUPPOSEDLY slided into Dynamo striker, Nate Jaqua. The score ended to be a draw - 1 to 1.
So, like I said, I'm not an expert on futbol, but I love the game and its passion. As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to suck to bomb. Especially when it comes to a sport as great as this. I LOOOOVE FUTBOL!!!

Peace,
Ariel

MNT Set for Next Round

Wow.
That game was amazing.
Not only did the boys net 6 purely amazing goals, but wow; the atmosphere was incredible. I've never had a chance to see Sam's Army in person before last night, but let me just tell you: those guys plus the D.C. Screaming Eagles make for one heck of a fan section!
We had a mini-fan section sitting by us for a while but they got the boot about 20 minutes in when the people who actually had tickets for those seats showed up. Props to Jeff (or whatever his name was) for being nice and helping us get some autographs and almost get on ESPN Classic.
I got to talk to Sacha before the game and I'm pretty sure he remembered me from this summer. Well, I hope he did, anyways... We also got to meet and get autographs from Mo Edu, Freddy Adu, Orozco, Heath Pierce, Jozy, Charlie Davies, Jose Francisco Torres, and maybe one or two more that I just can't recall right now.

Oh my goodess. How glad are you that Bob called up Torres??? I am ECSTATIC. He is so fiiiiiiine!!! Oh, and he likes rap music. Dude was listnening to it to get hyped for the game.
I may have to go over to the dark side and buy a Pachuca jersey...
Anyways, Torres played really well; he had a great shot that sailed just over the crossbar. Speaking of great plays; our boy Sacha had 2 BEAUTIFULL assists! I actually count the second one as a goal on his part, but whatever... I love Chingy so no hard feelings.
I still can't believe I got to see the full national team in action! This is a big deal for me obviously. One of the best parts was seeing Clint Dempsey. Dude is for sure my fave international player. Oh, and I got to see Brad again! I'm like, UBER happy right now...

Later ya'll,
Hannah

Chivas Suffering, MNT Get the Result

I wish I could have been in Houston to support my team on Wednesday. As a player myself i for sure know how hard a loss like that is to swallow. I'd give anything to be there with Ariel, Jazel, and Janessa to pump up the team for a win versus San Jose...

I'll bet anything Eddie Lewis had a super headache Wed. night. Dude just got sold to Galaxy; I'd have a headache too. Haha, just kidding. Well not really.

Anyways, Eddie's all stitched up and probably rearin' to go for L.A.

He played very well in the Qualifier on Wednesday, as did the whole team. I was just glad to be able to watch Clint in action once again. I swear, everything that guy does makes me laugh! Dude wasn't to happy about being subbed out. That little pouty face on the bench about did me in I was laughing so hard.

Anyways.

Sach'll probably play versus S.J. and I totally can't wait to FINALLY see him back in a Chivas USA kit. Ariel will most likely be @ the game...

P.S.

We are aiming to have an interview with Sacha up soon; we havn't actually done the interview yet, but we're hoping :].

Later y'all,
Hannah

Chivas and the National Team

Paulo Nagamura has great timing. I mean come on; that was a great goal! And great assist by Atiba. Chivas did really well last night. They were quick on the ball and didn't give the Galaxy a whole lot.

Sacha arrived back in L.A. last night; he got called up to the men's qualifier versus Guatemala. So I totally hope he gets some minutes because he for sure deserves it. He and all the Olympic team played their hearts out this past week.

Jonny, Jorge, Ante, and Claudio were not on the bench for the Galaxy game. Still injured but don't know about Wednesday; I hope they're on the bench! Though Chivas looks good even without a lot of their starters. Which is like 10 kinds of awesome because we soooo have depth now.

Well I'm tired now. Check ya'll later,
Hannah

Updates and Whatnot

Olympics are going pretty well; our boy Sacha netted one to temporarily put the U.S. even with the Netherlands. Though they didn't win, a well played game on the USA's part, don't you think? Stuart Holden might be feeling a little guilty right about now. Or maybe not... i hope not 'cause he played smashingly. The tie was a bit of a let down after the 2 lovely goals and that whole rally of intense play. Ah, well. Nigeria up on Wednesday!

Is anyone else exited for the SuperClasico?! Man, I know we are. I won't be in attendance, but the other 3 are planning on showing; they'll likely be sitting with the Union Ultras (shoutout to those guys; you rock!) Not quite sure if Jonny or Jorge will be starting. They're injured, but listed as probable so it anyone's game. Same for Ante and Galindo... Chivas really seem to be hurting for their core starters i.e. Kljestan, Razov, and Suarez. The team seemed slightly lacking Sat. night versus the Wizards. Second half was good though; Chivas was quicker on the ball and were more creative than in the first half. Totally amazing header by Justin Braun BTW. The kid's getting better and better.

Hannah
