Who Are We? Chiva Fighters

Why, hello there! Here at ChivasMeansGoats, we believe that Club Deportivo Chivas USA is the most superior of all MLS teams. We also believe that Sacha Kljestan, Jonathan (Jonny) Bornstein, Paulo Nagamura, Ante Razov, Justin Braun, Jorge Flores and all the Chivas dudes are AWESOME. be warned: this blog is written by 4 total teenage soccer stalkers. We're going to dish all the information possible about Chivas USA. And again, since this blog is typed by INSANE GIRLS, please don't expect to read much of anything substantial or newsworthy. Mostly it's about the players. We'll be aiming to start regular blogging soon; once we get all our affairs in order, we hope that we will write entries almost every day, as we find things exciting to post. Thanks for visiting the Sisterhood of the Traveling Sacha Kljestan Cleats! Drop by again soon!

BTW: We have recently acquired a pair of authentic cleats (adiPURE, size 11) worn by Sacha Kljestan, hence the name of the blog. Click on the picture below to see a larger and wider view of our snapshot of him running toward us to give us the cleats. Enjoy!

There are 4 of us actually. Ariel is a great artist and is a rabid Chivas fan. She also likes photography and music. Then there's Jazel and Janessa. They are amazing ballet dancers and aspiring fashion designers. Jay and Jan haven't been Chivas fans for long, but they already cheer louder than us at the matches. I'm Hannah, and I play soccer. I've been a Chivas fan for a few years, and I was the one to introduce soccer to the other three. I love music and Sacha Kljestan. It's a joy to watch Sacha play; he's so creative. Anyways, that's a little about us!

We're baaack!!

So. Haven't posted in a while... How ya been? We been good... yup, pretty darn good.

Anyways.
I know this is old news, but Preki's gone! I almost cried when I heard. Stupid Toronto... stealing our coach... alrighty I really don't want to talk about this anymore.

Three of my favorite Chiva boys got called up for the MNT January camp. I'm super happy for Braun; the kid's a workhorse and he for sure deserves this callup. Jonny and Sach will also be gracing the HDC's practice fields once again in nat'l team practice jerseys.

Soooooo... well I really got nothing else...

Oh, except for a eensy weensy lil story about how I completley humiliated myself in front of the entire U.S. U20 Men's National Team. Yup. Ariel and I trekked down to San Diego to watch the young boys train. Their training facility, by the way is FANTABULOUS. They get to train at the U.S. Olympic Taining Center in Chula Vista... so nice... Anyways, we get there and it's freezing and I'm in shorts and we're not allowed to go down to the actual field where they are training but we do anyways and I feel like a criminal and keep thinking we are going to get arrested and I'm so caught up with this that I don't even snap a picture. Then we walk to the other side of the field up on this hill and the walkway is between the field and the player's quarters, so obviously that's where the team will walk. So they end practice and come moseying on up the steps and they pass us and I'm just completley frozen because I mean WOW they are so cute like I never thought they would be and down the drain go my plans for a picture or autograph or a teeny interview because what am I doing? Hyperventilating, that's what. Hyperventilating because oh my gosh that's Jack McInerney walking right in front of me and sigh he is too adorable! And I just hadled it sooo well, standing there muttering "Omigod omigod omigod it's Jack McInerney, omigod omigod squeal!" and fully staring these boys down with big eyes and an open mouth because DUDE they did NOT look this tall and hott on tv.
And yah. That's how I humiliated myself in front of the entire U.S. U20 Men's National Team. Possibly the funniest part was Ariel refusing to look at the soccer players, instead gazing up at the sky and commenting to me on the weather.

WELL Happy New Year folks. Stay chill

The Beckham Experiment

Read this book folks. Do it now! Seriously though, It's a great read, even for those who are not exclusively Galaxy fans (like moi). I have learned so much about the relatively small world of pro footballers... I now fully appreciate these guys coming out of that tunnel to possibly hostile fans week in and week out for an often outrageously small salary. Most have to get second jobs. Alan Gordon, who as recently as a month ago I was ready to hang in effigie, has totally won me over with his genuine, cool-guy demeanor that I read about in this book. Dude coached girls soccer for like 3 years on the side to pay his rent! Gee, what I wouldn't give to have played for Alan Gordon... he is so cute!!

I'll post more goodies about the book later. Before I go, here's a little nightcap: It looks as though Sacha "Hollywood" Kljestan is back folks, and he's back with a vengeance. That should go for Chivas USA as well. Disregarding the potentially dangerous suspension of rock solid center back Carey Talley, Chivas looks to be heading straight for a playoff spot ^_^

Coming Up... Chivas USA at Colorado

The All-Star break has been way to long for my liking. I haven't seen my boys for almost 2 weeks, and won't see them for another whole week! Bad scheduling... bad, bad scheduling...

Alrighty then. Down to business, gents. I'm thinking Sacha just oughta be benched for a while... put in Flores or something and just let Sach sit there and sulk for a while.

Now don't get me wrong; I love the guy... absolutely hate having to bash him so much. But I mean for realls, dude seriously needs to get outa this funk he's in. I would say it's the hair's fault, but I love those cute spiky locks way too much... Sacha, m'boy, get your rear in gear and start scoring again because good gosh we sure need it.

Enough about the Great American Wankster (ha, I just made that up right this second aren't I CLEVAH!?!) Just watch Chivas this Saturday. 6:30 Pacific Time kickoff. DO IT!

By the way, I was just wondering if anyone knows what kind of boots Mike Magee wears? Assuming anybody reads this blog, of course... ah, wishfull thinking. Maybe If I keep acting like people read the blog, more people will read the blog...

Bit crazy, aren't I?
Stay chill,
hannah

ESPYS

Check out our boys Jonny and Sacha at the ESPY Awards... teehee.

OMG Jonathan Spector is wearing a 3 piece suit... awwww he's too cute!!! Rico looks like a pimp.
And wow I guess Sacha really likes the whole plaid thing. I swear he was wearing that same shirt after the game last Saturday :] Geez, Clint, baby... you clean up niiiice... I suppose I should also comment on Carlos Bocanegra: dude looks fantabulous. Only one left is Jozy, who looks very suave in grey.

Anyways, congrats to the boys for getting the nod for best upset.

Superclasico

Well, obviously the game didn't go as we had hoped. Stupid Galaxy... stupid Landon Donovan... UGH just when I thought I could finally tolerate the guy he goes and has that "I'm so much better than you" attitude with me! When we went under the stadium to see the players, I swear he smirked at me. Freak, I hate him.

Anyways.

The match seemed to be going well at first; possession was leaning toward Chivas, and we were mostly on the Galaxy end of the pitch. But then the goal happened (by the way, it was an extremely scrappy, ugly, and undeserved goal) and everything kinda went downhill. I wanted to cry. I mean, there was still competition; like Chivas didn't just lay down and give LA the game. But there just didn't seem to be any magic. Chances at the equalizer abounded, but the final touch just wasn't there. I'm bitter, so I blame Sacha. I know that's bad (like, this blog started because of him) but I mean COME ON. Every game he's played in the past few months he's been completely anonymous. Can't even tell he's on the field half the time.

...but I digress.

Jonny B. had this one terrific chance that had me on my feet jumping and screaming "Go Jonny go!!!" but then he didn't score. And I was sad. Very sad. I love Jonny... :]

It feels boring to just chat about the match. Ariel pretty much said all that happened when we met the players. All I gotta add is that OMG I SHARED THE SAME AIR-SPACE AS MIKE MAGEE!!!!!! Yes, I know he's a Galaxy player and yes, I know he's short and has kinda a funny looking nose (still not as funny looking as Sacha's though) but still... OMG HE'S SO HOTT!!!!!

sigh... Oh don't look at me like that. Hottness is my weakness. We also saw Dan Kennedy again. Dude was on a crutch for his injury. Wow, I miss him so much! He's so gorgeous! And also the next Brad Guzan, but whatever.

Bye fer now. Stay chill ya'll.

Chivas USA vs LA Galaxy, July 11, and other usless crap

Hullo

All right, so Hannah and I attended the game on Friday. These jams just get better and better! We started our evening at the HDC by making our way to Lot 6 to chill will the Union Ultras before being escorted together into the stadium (gasp!)

I love tailgating with the Union. Just a crazy bunch of Mexicans (and some asians???) downing shots of sweetly strong Patrone just to get them in the mood we all know and love. My dad was in this one too =) He's a big guy. He can handle it.
Not to mention free tacos!

Back to the game. They lost. Galaxy - 1, Chivas - a disappointing zilch. Too bad, because it put some of the players in the dumps. It was clearly shown in Sacha Kljestan as he Totally Ignored us! when we were screaming for autographs! I'll talk about that later.

About the game again...in about twenty minutes into the game I began to realize Chivas wasn't doing their best out there. They looked lazy. No wonder Galaxy made a goool. That was shocking; I only heard frantic screams from the crowd. It wasn't until the later half of the game that it finally registered to me that Galaxy had scored --- Whaaat??? And since when had actually occurred?

I honestly tried to focus on the game this time, but as usual, I was distracted by the Mexicans behind me :\

Now, back to the autographs...I gotta give my admirably deepest thanks to Carlos for setting us up with The Underground tickets. That was some nasty negotiating with the lady, man! Jerad (or Gered) Alexander, you should be proud of your pottymouthed father. Thank you again, man, for choosing us to go down there and even remembering us! It's an honour. Muchos Gracias.

We had to leave five minutes before the game ended to go down to The Underground, desperately urging to see the players finish the game. But it was all good because we got to see TONS of players. Which means that I got my jersey loaded up with signatures! Got Carey Talley over spring break, and now, like ten more over the summer.

Sacha, like I said before, was a major dickhead that time. He looked so disgusted. We eventually got his autograph, and tried to humour him, too. Hannah commented, "I like your haircut, Sacha." And what did he do? He Grunted! I don't think he said an actual word...Just saying.

Something totally embarrassing: okay there were tons of people sharing my Famous Person Sharpie so I couldn't keep track of it. So...after Sacha signed Hannah's jersey, I thought that Sacha had accidentally walked off with my Sharpie, so I called after him, "Hey, Sacha, you forgot my pen!" He turned around, staring at me blankly, didn't know what to do, then suddenly Hannah tells me, "Ariel, it's right here!" grabbing the Sharpie from the last random person next to her. It was pretty embaressing and everyone was laughing and I was like "AW SHNAP!" "Yeah, I'm stupid," I told everyone. Ha ha.

And NOW, ladies and gents, we come to the FATEFUL ELEVATOR RIDE!!! This is how it goes:
We were getting to go back to the stadium to leave because the lady was yaking at us that we'd better get going. I was excited because I got lots of handshakes, because I couldn't get hugs on account the players were on the other side of the gate. Shivering with delight, I walked to the elevators, waiting for our turn.
While we were waiting, Eduardo Lillingston, #99 makes his way through the small crowd to wait for the elevator too, his girlfriend getting totally All Over Him. She was hanging onto him, smooching, while he, not really paying attention, holding on to her, just trying to make sure she doesn't fall over. I was pushing against the wall because Lill and his girl were passing by and they stopped directly right in front off me, beginning to make out like crazy. She was really gorgeous, and just saying...Lillingston's button-down shirt was popped open at the chest. =D They both were tall-ish, fer the record.
Okay, THEN, here's the best part, the ELEVATOR FLIPS OPEN, and here I am, hesitant, because there's tons of people crowding into it and I don't know if we'll all make it in. But my dad says just go in, and we do. The guard operating the elevator barks at one employee lady; she has to go to the industrial elevator, or whatever. I get nervous, but whatever. I move into the back. People start pushing me into this one guy, who JUST HAPPENED TO BE OMAR GONZALES, #4!!! I turned, my eyes leading up to his face above me. I said, "I'm sorry!" And guess what he said? He says, "It's okay!" In this sensitive, sweet voice that actually MEANT it!!! I was in love!
Still dazed, I look around the elevator for some thrills, when I see face-to-face OMG - KOBI JONES!!! I wanted to say something, maybe give him a friendship bracelet...if I had one...but he was probably trying his best to ignore us, so I left him alone. I heard a outburst of laughing at the left corner - it was Lillingston's crazy chick, still smooching and clinging onto him helplessly. Oh Em Jee. Eduardo was also in the house. No waaayyy!!! I was fainting.
Okay, last words, people, promise. The door swung open and everyone bustled out. I was dying because I wanted to ask Omar Gonzales for a hug since I couldn't approach stingy Kobi or Eduardo with the clingly, giggly girlfriend. And somehow, I don't even know how, I asked him for a hug and I got one. YES!!! And it wasn't just those awkward, quick, get-away-from-me kind of hugs. It was supprisingly affectionate and on the longish side as we were about to back off.

SO SORRY FOR ALL THE CRAP I WAS JUST DYING TO REPORT!!!
LAYTAH AND PEACE!!! - Ariel, in and out.

USA vs Honduras

Watching the second half right now... Benny's in!!!! Gah, he is so gorgeous. Sacha's on the bench and Jonny got the nod as starting left back. I'm really liking the Bornstein-Spector combo on the outside back spots.

Great 1st half PK by Donovan... even if I do think PK's are soft, sissy ways to score. Haha.

53rd minute. Casey is stopped going up the left side. Got called for the foul. Eh, I don't really like Casey. Seems all brawn to me...

54th minute. Absolute ROCKET from Dempsey. Over the crossbar. Gee I love him so much :]

Around the 54th, 55th minute, great speed of play by the U.S. Good, fast passes and such.

OHMAGOODNESSGRACIOUS Dempsey nearly scored! Great ball in Benny! Diving in on the back post... completly open! Just nicked his shin SO CLOSE!!! Oh, uh, that was like the 59th minute?

63rd minute. Honduras free kick, save by Timmy.

68th minute. GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!! USA!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!! OH MY GAHD CARLOS BOCANEGRA IS MY HERO!!!!!! WOW that was a great ball in, Donovan! Dempsey with the assist, heading it back into the center of the box. Man, diving header...

71st minute. Jay DeMerit comes in for the injured Carlos. Poor baby...

Gosh. My throat is sore. Cheering hurts.

79th minute. Beasley draws the foul and Nunez comes out for Honduras.

82nd minute. Jonny's down with the cramps in his leg.

84th minute. Honduras had some scary chances... spectacular defending by the U.S.

85th. Just noticed Jonny's up front and Beasley's at left back. Score Jonny score!!

4 minutes stoppage time added. C'mon boys, keep it up!! Wow I'm really bad at minute by minute blogging. Dude, I'm like super caught up in this game!

WOOO! USA!!! Aw, Benny got interviewed! Ok, well, I'm done for now. Chivas is getting ready to play! Dang it I just realized I should've done this for the Chivas game instead of the U.S. game. I mean, this is a Chivas blog...

Be chill.

FIFA World Cup Qualifyer

Boy, Mexico must be really mad with us now. We took over their spotlight. I dunno...it's kinda weird that the Mexicans in the U.S. are against the real Mexicans now...I'm sorry if that kind of sounded wrong!! I just realized that when I watched the game. It's kind of ironic. Yeah, I'm weird.
Sacha didn't score no hat tricks today but Michael Bradley was AH-MAH-ZING!!! Scored two goals, don't ya know. Love 'em.
Well, like before I need to get my facts straight later... [=

Peace,
Ariel.

U.S. Mens National vs. Sweden

U.S. Mens National against Sweden?
I went to the one last year. Yeah, I know this is real late to extend about this particular...but, I really should be saying more about this. I know Hannah commented about it before but I just wanna expand a l'il bit. Come on you guys, Sacha scored a frigin hat trick! Why are we not expanding about this?
Yeah, three goals. I'm serious you guys. I even cut out an article in the L.A. Times about this. They interviewed Sacha. When he heard that the only other American to achieve this feat was back in May 24, 1934 when Aldo "Buff" Donelli scored four goals. He took America 4-2 qualifying victory against Mexico at the United States 1934 FIFA World Cup in Rome. CONGRATS.

I can't believe I missed this game. I was supposed to attend, actually, but me parents wouldn't let me. Dang it. How come every time something amazing happens I always miss it? And when I was originally supposed to go to...oh, luck where'd you go...
And just for the record...this all happened at the now historic HOME DEPOT CENTER !!! Whoo! My home...My home...
I'll talk about all the details of the the game later when I've gathered all the information I need. [=

Check out this website the L.A. Times wrote about the event!

FINALLY!!!

So Sacha cut his hair.

His too-long, greasy, hobo-ish, in the way hair is finally gone.

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Ahem. Exuse me.

Ok so I gotta admit, the whole shaved head wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but hey; at least now it can grow back into that cute semi short and spikey pre-fame do that we all know and love... sigh, I really love that hair...

Who knows? Possibly this drastic change comes from the fact that Sach will not be going to the Hoops just yet. Perhaps our boy's deppressed.

Or maybe he's finally seen the truth that thin, shoulderlength, split-end riddled, sweaty hair does NOT look good on anybody. Well, except Frankie Hejduk (and Sasha Vujacic). But his isn't greasy with split ends. Just cute and wavy :]

Anyways.

Sorry to have bashed Sacha's hair so terribly, lol. Dude, I'm just glad it's gone.
Here's a picture. Have fun!

A Great Start to a New Year

The boys played great this past Saturday, beating Sweden 3-0. I screamed so loud when Sacha scored that last goal. I mean, scoring your first international goal is fantastical enough, but a HAT-TRICK??? WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Cheers, Kljestan ; )
I was glad that Parkhurst got the callup at the last minute. The Revs (and me) are going to miss him this season. Jonny B. had a great second half, according to the match commentators. In MY opinion I think he played superb the entire time.
Pancho has gone to Guadalajara, never to come back again... well, I don't know that for sure, but he's definitely gonna be there for a while.

I wanted to make a recall on some things I said in my last post: for one, it was rude of me to so openly bash the Columbus Crew and the New York Red Bulls. In all honesty, I really don't care much for the Crew, but I still have respect for them, and I apologize if I offended anyone. I was still a little bitter about them beating out Chicago (my 2nd fave team at the moment) for the Cup spot.

So anyways... We here at ChivasMeansGoats are super psyched for February 11. In exactly 2 weeks and 2 days, the United States of America will face Mexico in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier. HOW COULD WE NOT BE SUPER PSYCHED?!!?!?!?!? So tune in Wednesday, February 11 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2 to watch the USMNT thrash Mexico : )

later ya'll
hannah
